Lexdray for Kid Robot Black Collection on Hypebeast

Hypebeast recently featured a project we were a part of with Kid Robot and Staple Design, The KRB Collection.  Thanks Hypebeast.

Kidrobot Black Collection x Staple Design x Lexdray Sling Bag

We recently combined forces with Kid Robot and Staple Design to design and produce a sling bag for the Kidrobot Black Collection. The highly limited edition series which also includes tee-shirts, a hat and pigeon figurine is comprised of an all-black colorway plus a single hit of color. "In design language, a true black is made up of specific percentages of cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Staple played with the conflicting idea that these pop, bright colors are essential to making a rich black color. In the Kidrobot Black collection, the CMYK spectrum is subtly visible in all pieces to create an understated graphic aesthetic."

The entire collection will be available starting 11/15/12 at the Kidrobot online store and each of their retail stores in New York, San Francisco, Miami, London and Boulder.

A chat with Carryology - F/W 2012 Collection

We had a recent chat regarding our F/W 2012 collection with our friends at Carryology. They inquired about each piece from our new collection, thought processes behind them, what we have coming in 2013 and more. Take a look.

Lexdray supports The LeBron James Family Foundation

Giving back and creating a sense of community are two things I have always felt strongly about.  Growing up through age 10 in Durham, North Carolina, and having played basketball all of my life, I'm extremely passionate about the impact that sports have on a child's life.

So when I was given the chance to work with the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) I welcomed the opportunity.

The foundation, created by LeBron and his Mom, is guided by two main pillars: support of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the Akron Public Schools After School Program.  The LJFF and their partners are helping enrich community support systems across the country. As a core component of their efforts, they created the Wheels for Education (WFE) program, which donates bicycles to children to encourage them to go to school every day.  In August of 2011, third grade students made a promise to their hero. They promised him they would go to school, be respectful to their parents, teachers and peers, be active and make good decisions.  In return, he promised them that he would be the best role model he could be, on and off the court.

Each year the LJFF selects a group of twenty-five high school students which they call 330 Ambassadors. These are a unique group of students from the Akron area chosen by the LJFF and Akron Public Schools. These students serve as role models in the community and each assists with the WFE program.

This past summer I was honored with the opportunity to contribute my design skills to help create a new logo for the 330 Ambassadors.  I also gifted each ambassador a Lexdray Tokyo pack.  My hope was to contribute to their excitement for the upcoming school year and support LeBron in his goal.

If you would like to join the LJFF and myself in these efforts, log onto timetopromise.com and purchase an I PROMISE band. Proceeds from your purchase benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation and their movement to change the nation’s graduation rate.

Proud to be part of the LBJ family.

-Alex

PROJECT/reed @ S.L.A.T.E Las Vegas

We were honored last week to be included in PROJECT/reed, a unique exhibition curated by Jeff Staple at the S.L.A.T.E segment of the PROJECT Las Vegas tradeshow. Jeff created a museum like atmosphere containing some of the most exclusive, limited, and creative collaborations to be released in the last few years.

In addition to our Lexdray x Boylston Trading Co Boulder Pack, some of the other brands which completed the installation included Nike, KAWS, Adidas, Levi's, Bape, Supreme, Maiden Noir, Asics and Billionaire Boys Club.

Visitors to the exhibition were greeted with a plaque that read: “What you see before you are physical archives of our world.  They all come from ‘the streets,’ but these items are now some of the world’s most sought-after and highly coveted objects.”

Check out the photos and video below.  More details on the exhibition: Inqmind, Freshness, Complex
